Course Description: The rules of evidence as they relate to the prosecution and defense of criminal cases: general provisions, judicial notice, presumptions, relevancy, privileges, witnesses, hearsay, expert testimony, authentication, and identification. Pre-requisite: CJ312. 3:0:3
Educational Philosophy: The facilitator's educational philosophy is one of interactiveness bases on lectures, discussion, videos, and research. The facilitator encourages each student to explore new ideas and issues in a learning friendly environment
Learning Outcomes:Students will be able to demonstrate knowledge of terminology and evidentiary procedure. In addition, students will be able to demonstrate knowledge of the complexities of why our legal system excludes evidence under existing law and US Constitution
Course Assessment: Lectures supplemented with additional reading assignments, video presentations, class participation, mid-term and final examination, and a series of quizzes.
Grading: mid term exam 35%
final exam 35%

Late Submission of Course Materials: late work will be accepted only in circumstances with prior approval has been given by faciliatator. Quizzes will not be made up if missed due to an unexcused absence. Extra credit work is not permitted
Classroom Rules of Conduct: Academic Honesty will not be negotiated. All policies pertaining to honesty, plagarism, and attendance are in accordinace with established policies by Park University
Determination as to what is an excused or unexcused absence rests with the facilitator.
