I. COURSE DESCRIPTION

An individualized instruction for the student to examine a current issue or trend in-criminal justice, culminating in the preparation, submission and defense of a senior thesis.

II. COURSE GOALS

1. To provide the student with practical experience in the development of a research project.
2. To provide the student with practical experience to develop a major thesis.

III .LEARNING OBJECTIVES

The student completing this course will be able to demonstrate his/her knowledge in the criminal justice field through the submission of a 15 page thesis.

IV. COURSE ARRANGEMENTS

The class will consist of consultation with the professor, preparation of a thesis and submission and defense of a thesis.

V. CLASS REQUIREMENTS

Students are required to prepare a final thesis 15 pages long (minimum). The student must be prepared to present and defend the thesis (15minutes). Students will be required to submit written critiques of their classmates’ presentations. The following statement must be included:

VII .CLASS POLICIES

Class participation is required. Students are responsible for completing all assignments on time.
The Park College policy concerning class attendance will be strictly enforced. Academic honesty is non-negotiable.

VIII. GRADING POLICIES
Thesis Paper 75 % of final grade
Presentation and Defense of Thesis 25% of final grade
IX. GRADING

A 90% - 100%
B 80% - 89%
C 70% - 79%
D 60% - 69%
F Below 60%

Please e-mail or leave a phone message if you need to meet with me outside the assigned class time or date set aside for consultations.
Since the written critiques of fellow classmates= presentations are part of the grade, attendance for the presentations is important.
If special equipment is needed for your presentation please let me know by November 10th.
