Learning Outcomes: Core Learning Outcomes
All Park University courses must include a core assessment that
measures the course Learning Outcomes. The purpose of this
assessment is to determine if expectations have been met concerning
mastery of learning outcomes across all instructional modalities.
For this course, the core assessment is a final exam to be administered
in all sections of EC 141. The exam is NOT OPEN BOOK. It is
worth 20 percent of the student's final grade and will test students'
mastery of four core learning outcomes (Learning Outcomes 1, 2, 3, and
4 listed on this syllabus) through definitions, short essay, and
graphing questions. For each core learning outcome, the student
should be prepared to draw the relevant graph, define basic concepts or
policies, identify relevant shifts in the curves, and state final
impacts on relevant variables.

1. Six weekly quizzes will cover the chapter(s) previously lectured
2. The midterm covers chapters one through eight..
3. Six weekly issue discussion topics are as follows:
23 Aug: Is illegal immigration good for the U.S. economy?
30 Aug: Is Wal-Mart good for the U.S. economy?
6 Sep: Should Social Security be changed to include personal retirement accounts?
20 Sep: Should the tax code be changed to a consumption tax?
27 Sep: Should we care about trade deficits?
4 Oct: Do we need a balanced budget amendment?
4. The comprehensive final examination is not a take home test and will be closed book and closed notes. It will cover all the chapters one through fifteen.
The final grade will be determined using the following measurements:
Weekly Quizzes (30%)
Midterm Examination (20%)
Weekly Issue Discussions (30%)
Comprehensive Final Examination (20%)
Final grades will be assigned as follows:
A = 90 to 100%
B = 80 to 89.9%
C = 70 to 79.9%
D = 60 to 69.9%
F = Below 60
Late Submission of Course Materials: Late submission of course work will not be accepted without the prior approval of the instructor.
Classroom Rules of Conduct:
Cell phones required for duty requirements will be answered outside of the classroom. No other cell phone use is permitted.
Students are not permitted to use a cell phone in lieu of a calculator during examinations.

Plagiarism:Plagiarism involves the use of quotations without quotation marks, the use of quotations without indication of the source, the use of another's idea without acknowledging the source, the submission of a paper, laboratory report, project, or class assignment (any portion of such) prepared by another person, or incorrect paraphrasing.
