Course Description:
MA 125 Intermediate Algebra Fundamentals of algebra. Topics include the real number system, basic operations of algebra, linear and quadratic equations, inequalities, functions and graphs, systems of equations. Additional considerations include radicals, rational functions, and basic analytic geometry. 3:0:3

Educational Philosophy:

This instructor's educational philosophy is one of interactiveness based on lectures, readings, quizzes, co - operative learning, dialogues, tests, an examination, internet, and web sites. This instructor will engage each learner to develop their mathematical foundation and to inspire each of them to become lifelong learners of mathematics, as well as lifelong active participants of mathematical models.

Late Submission of Course Materials:
Take home assessments will not be accepted after the assigned due date. In class quizzes, tests, and in class activities are to assess current understanding and thus cannot be made up. Thus no late submission is allowed.

Classroom Rules of Conduct:

Each student is required to conduct themselves professional at all times when interfacing with other students and the instructor.

To provide the most conducive environment for each student’s educational experience:

1. Cell phone usage is not permitted in the classroom. Cell phones and pagers must be turned off to prevent unnecessary disruptions during the class.

2. Please do not enter the classroom until the break if you are more than 15 minutes tardy.

3. Any student missing more than 15 minutes of any class session will receive an unexcused absence for that session.
4. Disruptive behavior, racist, or sexist speech out of context will not be tolerated.

Plagiarism involves the use of quotations without quotation marks, the use of quotations without indication of the source, the use of another's idea without acknowledging the source, the submission of a paper, laboratory report, project, or class assignment (any portion of such) prepared by another person, or incorrect paraphrasing. from Park University 2010-2011 Undergraduate Catalog Page 92-93

Attendance Policy:
Instructors are required to maintain attendance records and to report absences via the online attendance reporting system.

  1. The instructor may excuse absences for valid reasons, but missed work must be made up within the semester/term of enrollment.
  2. Work missed through unexcused absences must also be made up within the semester/term of enrollment, but unexcused absences may carry further penalties.
  3. In the event of two consecutive weeks of unexcused absences in a semester/term of enrollment, the student will be administratively withdrawn, resulting in a grade of "F".
  4. A "Contract for Incomplete" will not be issued to a student who has unexcused or excessive absences recorded for a course.
  5. Students receiving Military Tuition Assistance or Veterans Administration educational benefits must not exceed three unexcused absences in the semester/term of enrollment. Excessive absences will be reported to the appropriate agency and may result in a monetary penalty to the student.
  6. Report of a "F" grade (attendance or academic) resulting from excessive absence for those students who are receiving financial assistance from agencies not mentioned in item 5 above will be reported to the appropriate agency.
