Educational Philosophy: My educational philosophy is one of interaction with students based on dialogues, examinations, writings, and class discussions. Reading is crucial to success in today's world, and if one develops the habit of awareness along with an appreciation for the messages in works of fiction, one is better prepared to make wise decisions. The more one reads, the more one knows, and the richer becomes one's life.
Learning Outcomes: Core Learning Outcomes
The core assessment for En 201 is a critical paper consisting of 5-8 pages of original literary analysis using personal insights and primary and secondary sources. MLA documentation, including a Work Cited page, is also required. A minimum of 3 sources are required, and must include a range of types of sources, including online and traditional print sources. The core assessment must account for no less than 25 % of the final grade.

Late Submission of Course Materials: Students are responsible for reading all assignments from the text. Written assignments are due on the date assigned, and late assignments will not be accepted unless coordinated with the instructor beforehand. Students are responsible for obtaining information regarding assignments made during any absences.
Classroom Rules of Conduct: All submissions must be typed in 12 pt. font in MLA style. Students must recognize that technology can cause problems, and students must plan ahead to meet all deadlines. In other words, computer problems are not valid excuses for late assignments.
