Design is both creative and meticulous. It is a process that involves generating ideas, then editing and refining those ideas before producing the final result. The steps in the design process are universal and can be applied to any design problem, whether it is a written document, the design of a space or the design of a product.
As a teacher, I articulate what I have learned as a professional architect and designer, sharing my accumulated knowledge and skills with the students. This information is the basis for a variety of activities that reinforce core learning objectives. Students observe, evaluate, collaborate and create as they approach each assignment as a design problem. Students communicate design concepts visually and orally using the appropriate visual communication tools for the phase of design: drawing, drafting (by hand or computer), board building and models.

4. Upon completion of the required work, the employer will be expected to:

c. Observations about business procedures, policies and work ethics at your place of employment.

e. How the internship affects your future employment plans.
f. How your education has prepared you for this internship. What you wish you would have learned.
g. What have you learned about the duties and responsibilities of interior designers?
h. What you have learned about products, suppliers, related services and other firms?

Late Submission of Course Materials:
5% will be deducted from the grade for any work or forms submitted after the deadline. Contact the professor to make arrangements to submit work more than one business day after the deadline.
Classroom Rules of Conduct:
Attendance will be recorded each week on Friday morning. To be considered "present", the student must respond to the weekly e-mail topic by 5:00 PM on Thursday. An "excused absence" may be given if there are extenuating circumstances, which must be explained in writing and e-mailed by 8:00 AM on the Monday following the “absence.” Three excused absences will be given. Each "unexcused absence" will result in a 5% deduction from the final grade.
· Form may be completed and sent via e-mail or postal mail, or hand delivered to instructor's mailbox, and must be received by the instructor by 5:00 PM, Thursday, June 14. If the form is delivered to the professor's mailbox, send an e-mail notifying the instructor that the form is there.
· The student must make at least one comment responding to the weekly e-mail discussion topic by 5:00 pm Thursday of each week in order to be counted present for the week.
· Employer Evaluation forms must be turned in by 5:00 pm Thursday, July 26. They may be sent via e-mail, postal mail or hand delivered to the professor's mailbox in the Interior Design Suite. If the evaluations are delivered to the professor's mailbox, send an e-mail notifying the professor that the evaluations have been delivered.
Portfolio and Journal
· The portfolio of work and the journal for the semester must be delivered to the professor no later than 5:00 pm Thursday, July 26. This document may be e-mailed or sent via postal mail or hand delivered to the professor's mailbox at Park University. If the portfolio and Journal are hand delivered to the Professor's mailbox, send an e-mail notifying the professor that the documents have been delivered.
