Educational Philosophy: The facilitator's educational philosophy is one of interactiveness based on presentations, readings, homework assignments, quizzes, dialogues, and examinations.
Learning Outcomes: Core Learning Outcomes
The final exam for AC 201 will be the assessment tool used for this course. The exam will be comprehensive and the grade used to determine competency levels achieved by the students. The exam will be closed book and closed notes. The exam consist of 10 multiple choice questions covering the chapter readings in the course and five problems that examine the critical thinking, effective communication skills and technical skills of the student. The first problem will address Accounting in Business, Analyzing and Recording Transactions, and Adjusting Accounts and Preparing Financial Statements. The second problem will address Completing the Accounting Cycle, Accounting for Merchandising Operations and Inventories and Cost of Sales. The third problem will address Accounting Information Systems and Cash and Internal Controls. The last two problems address issues of Accounting for Receivables, Plant Assets and Current Liabilities and Payroll Accounting. Partial credit will be given for the problems.

We will use a variety of assessment instruments: class discussion, homework, quizzes and exams.
The grade from this course is a composite grade from answering twenty one discussion questions, seven quizzes, three hourly exams (weeks 2, 4, and 6), and a proctored final exam.
You must answer three discussion questions per week and make substantive posts to other comments made by students or me. If there are more than three questions to be answered, you may pick which three you choose to answer but you must answer at least one question from each chapter. The answers must be in your own words and not direct quotes from the text or outside sources. Each week you can earn three points for a total of 21points for the course grade. These answers are due by Sunday and form the basis for a class discussion. In order to receive full credit for the discussion questions you must also actively respond to other posts made by students and/or the instructor.
The seven quizzes are worth 1.4 points each. The total for all seven is ten points out of the final grading scheme of one hundred points.
The hourly exams are worth 39 percent of the final course grade. Each exam in weeks 2, 4, and 6 will be worth 13 percent of the total grade. These exams are open book and untimed.
The final exam is worth thirty percent of the final grade. This is given in week eight and is proctored. The exam is a closed book, closed notes. You will be provided a study guide during the course to help you prepare for the exam.
The course grade for students will be based on the overall average of homework and tests taken during the course in accordance with the weighting of the various requirements as stated in the syllabus.
All final exams in all School of Business courses will be comprehensive and will be closed book and closed notes. They will constitute 30% of the total course grade and will not be a take-home exam. They will be completed during the test week in the period designated by the registrar or by the Proctor in the case online courses. If calculators are allowed, they will not be multifunctional electronic devices that include features such as: phones, cameras, instant messaging, pagers, and so forth. Electronic Computers will not be allowed on final exams unless an exception is made by the Dean of the School of Business.
I will not accept late material unless you have obtained prior permission from me to turn in an assignment late. Please contact me as soon as you know you will not be able to complete an assignment to determine if we can work out an acceptable alternate schedule.
Classroom Rules of Conduct:
Each student is expected to do their own work, participate in the discussions and not be critical of other students. Every student is expected to participate in the classroom discussions.

For example, using the default file name such as "Quiz1" and adding Paul H to the end would give you a file name of "Quiz1 Paul H" which is how I'd probably name it if I were a student in this class.
