Educational Philosophy: The facilitator's philosophy is one of interactiveness based on lectures, readings, quizzes, dialogues, examinations, and case studies. The facilitator's philosophy is also based on the student being responsible for his/her learning with preparation and completion of reading assignments. The facilitator cannot transfer her knowledge directly into the heads of the students. The student must work at learning.
Learning Outcomes: Core Learning Outcomes
Link to Class RubricClass Assessment: Learning will be assessed via examinations and a case study written outside of class and turned in at the assigned week. Assigned readings must be completed before each class so that we can have meaningful dialogue. A mid-term worth 300 points (30%), a final worth 400 points (30%), a fictional case study worth 300 points (40%).
The course grade for students will be based on the overall average of homework and tests taken during the course in accordance with the weighting of the various requirements as stated in the syllabus.
All final exams in all School of Business courses will be comprehensive and will be closed book and closed notes. They will constitute 30% of the total course grade and will not be a take-home exam. They will be completed during the test week in the period designated by the registrar or by the Proctor in the case online courses. If calculators are allowed, they will not be multifunctional electronic devices that include features such as: phones, cameras, instant messaging, pagers, and so forth. Electronic Computers will not be allowed on final exams unless an exception is made by the Dean of the School of Business.
Classroom Rules of Conduct: The facilitator's philosophy is that student's should be engaged, even if tired from the days' work. Student's should actively participate and demonstrate desire to learn through observable behaviors such as participating in diaglogue, not slouching in class, sharing experiences, and promoting an overall positive environment.
